What is anonymous visitor identification?

Visitor identification is software that matches anonymous website visitors to known profiles in a shared first-party data graph, returning contact data including email and SMS plus enriched profile attributes, without requiring the visitor to fill out a form.

How does visitor identification software work?

When a visitor arrives on your site, the tool checks their browser signals against a large first-party data cooperative. If a match is found, the visitor's email address and profile data are returned in near-real-time and pushed into Klaviyo.

What match rate should I expect from visitor identification?

Match rates depend on the size and quality of the identity graph. Reverse-IP tools match 16-30% of visitors. Graph-based visitor identification tools like Tie ID identify up to 90% of anonymous visitors, including cold first-time traffic, not just returning shoppers already in your list.

What data comes with an identified visitor?

Tie ID returns email and SMS contact information plus 300+ enriched attributes per visitor, including demographics, purchasing behavior, interests, and lifestyle data, so Klaviyo flows can segment on who someone actually is, not just that they visited.

Is visitor identification legal and compliant?

Klaviyo-approved visitor identification uses first-party consent data from an identity graph cooperative. Tie ID is listed on the Klaviyo Marketplace. Always verify your vendor has not been removed from platform marketplaces for emailing third-party IDs without consent.

How does visitor identification connect to Klaviyo?

Tie ID integrates with Klaviyo via the Klaviyo Marketplace. Identified contacts are pushed directly into Klaviyo flows. Abandoned cart, browse abandonment, and welcome series flows fire against the identified visitor immediately.

Can I use visitor identification without changing my existing Klaviyo flows?

Yes. Visitor identification is additive. It does not replace or modify your existing flows. It expands the audience those flows fire against.

How quickly does visitor identification start working?

Most brands see identified contacts flowing into Klaviyo within 24-48 hours of installation. Flow revenue from newly identified traffic typically shows up in the first week.
